Using early vocalization analysis for visual feedback
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Early Vocalization System (EVA) applies the Stevens landmark theory to infant vocalizations (babbles). The landmarks are grouped to identify syllable-like productions in these vocalizations. The visiBabble system processes vocalizations in real-time. It responds to the infant's syllable-like productions with brightly colored animations and records the landmark analysis. The system reinforces the production of syllabic utterances that are associated with later language and cognitive development. We report here on the development of the visiBabble prototype and our initial field-testing.

Reproduction of plosive sound vocalization by the talking robot based on the visual information
The authors are developing a vocalization training system for the auditory-impaired. The training system employs a talking robot which has mechanical organs like a human. With an adaptive learning strategy using an auditory feedback control, the robot autonomously learns the vocalization to speak like a human, and then reproduces the speech articulation from inputted vocal sounds. In the previo...
متن کاملAttentional demands modulate sensorimotor learning induced by persistent exposure to changes in auditory feedback.
Hearing one's own voice is important for regulating ongoing speech and for mapping speech sounds onto articulator movements. However, it is currently unknown whether attention mediates changes in the relationship between motor commands and their acoustic output, which are necessary as growth and aging inevitably cause changes to the vocal tract. In this study, participants produced vocalization...
متن کاملTalking Robot and the Autonomous Acquisition of Vocalization and Singing Skill
Voice is used as primary media in the human communication. It is employed not only in simple daily communication, but also for the logical discussions and the expression of emotion and feelings. Different vocal sounds are generated by the complex movements of vocal organs under the feedback control mechanisms using an auditory system. Vocal sounds and human vocalization mechanisms have been the...
متن کاملCauses of Spelling Weaknesses in Students with Visual Impairment and Teaching Strategies for Spelling Improvement
Background: Spelling is characterized as a basic skill for the children’s writing literacy. A wide range of factors may contribute to the formation and/ or intensification of problems related to teaching writing competencies, so that spellings come with a serious challenge called “invented spelling”. It is also a major concern for teachers and parents of children with visual impairments. Theref...
متن کاملBelievable Visual Feedback in Motor Learning Using Occlusion-based Clipping in Video Mapping
Gait rehabilitation systems provide patients with guidance and feedback that assist them to better perform the rehabilitation tasks. Real-time feedback can guide users to correct their movements. Research has shown that the quality of feedback is crucial to enhance motor learning in physical rehabilitation. Common feedback systems based on virtual reality present interactive feedback in a monit...
